Disposition notice

On November 3, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (Hon. Percy Anderson) issued an in-chambers order to show cause in Case No. 2:26-cv-12827-PA-PVC. The court noted it appears to possess only supplemental jurisdiction over the plaintiff's Unruh Civil Rights Act claim and any other state law claims, and ordered the plaintiff to show cause in writing why the court should exercise supplemental jurisdiction over those claims under 28 U.S.C. § 1367(c). The plaintiff was also directed to identify the amount of statutory damages sought and to submit declarations, signed under penalty of perjury, providing all facts necessary to determine if the plaintiff and counsel satisfy the definition of a "high-frequency litigant" under California Code of Civil Procedure §§ 425.55(b)(1) & (2). The response is due by November 17, 2026. The court warned that failure to timely or adequately respond may result in dismissal of the entire action without prejudice or declination of supplemental jurisdiction and dismissal of state law claims.
